No. 427 (2026) is a revised piano quartet derived from a larger composition titled Seven Movements (2019), a multi-movement piece structured as a sequence of contrasting musical ideas . In No. 427, three of these movements have been extracted, reworked, and reshaped into a new, more concentrated form.
The piece consists of the following three revised movements:
- No. 4 – Playful
- No. 2 – Calm and gentle
- No. 7 – Heavily processed
Overall, No. 427 can be understood as both a reinterpretation and a distillation of Seven Movements. By revising and juxtaposing these three contrasting sections, the work creates a new dramaturgy—one that moves from playfulness through calm introspection to a more complex and processed sonic landscape.
Seven Movements was premiered by Ensemble Makadam and No. 427 was premiered by Ensemble Klangfabriken.
